BIOC13 - Ecology
Ekologi
BIOC13 is an undergraduate ecology course that covers the basics of ecological and evolutionary theory. On this course, I teach the statistics components. This consists of 4 hours of lectures and 6 hours of exercises. I teach this using the same approach I have taken in BIOB11, using computational statisitcs (e.g. randomisation/bootstrap based inference) with the infer
R package. By the end of the two days, the students are able to answer basic research questions using confidence intervals and hypothesis tests, and produce plots using ggplot2
. I place an emphasis on understanding sampling distributions and null distributions, over memorising a list of tests.
