BIOR69 - Population and Community Ecology

Course Information

BIOR69 is a Master’s level ecology course at Lund University. I teach on a few components of this course:

• Statistics: two days where we cover the basics of frequentist hypothesis testing, using SPSS. In my opinion, this portion of the course is in need of changing.
• Article seminars: a series of journal club style seminars covering a wide range of ecological studies.
• Field course: a week long excursion where we go to new locations each day, and student’s must design a research project, collect data, analyse and present their findings within one day. I think this format is excellent as it allows for students to apply what they learned from their mistakes the very next day.
